COUNCIL BUSINESS MEETING HIGHLIGHTS FROM January 16, 2019
The Borough prepared and authorized bids for the 2019 paving program with alternates – the list can be obtained from the borough office.
The Berkley Slide is nearing completion – final paving will be done in the spring when conditions permit.
The Borough continues to seek volunteers to serve on various boards and committees- if interested please contact the Borough Manager for information.
COUNCIL BUSINESS MEETING HIGHLIGHTS FROM December 19, 2018
Henry Van Dyke was presented with the Marty B. O’Malley Citizenship award.
Mayor Porco presented the Forest Hills VFD with a proclamation recognizing their 100th Anniversary.
Construction on the Berkley slide will begin in mid January. Notification will be made to residents prior to road blockage.
The budget for 2019 was approved with no increase in the tax rate and it remains at 8.00 mills for 2019.
The fees for trash/recycling was increase by $7.00 along with a Fire Protection Service Fee increase of $10.00 for 2019.
COUNCIL BUSINESS MEETING HIGHLIGHTS FROM November 14, 2018
A motion was approved to repair the Berkley slide area at a cost of $143 325 with work to start as soon as possible.
The 2019 budget will be advertised by December and can be found on the Borough website – the budget maintains the current tax rate of 8 mills.
Henry Van Dyke was nominated for the Marty O’Malley Citizenship Award for 2018 and was approved by a unanimous vote.
An ordinance was passed to permit archery hunting of deer on borough property pursuant to a permit issued by the Chief of Police.
The New Borough Building has received two awards from the American Institute of Architects for Certificate of Merit for Design and an Honor Award in Sustainability and Resilience.

The borough building was honored with two awards at a recent AIA (American Institute of Architects) ceremony. The building received the ARCHITECTURE: Certificate of Merit and SUSTAINABILITY and RESILIENCE: Honor Award.

COUNCIL BUSINESS MEETING HIGHLIGHTS FROM September 19, 2018
Council has authorized the purchase of a new police vehicle for the department which is in line with the normal rotation for vehicle purchases.
The Borough has notified Waste Management that is has accepted the trash /recycling service contract for 2019. In addition, discussions are taking place regarding the future for recycling in terms of possible new conditions associated with the recycling process.
Nominations are still be accepted for the Forest Hills ‘Citizen of the Year’ award. Please contact the Borough Manager with any nominations.

COUNCIL BUSINESS MEETING HIGHLIGHTS FROM August 15, 2018
Borough Council is seeking bids to repair the slide on Berkley Avenue. Initial estimates suggest the cost of repairs to be somewhere in the $200 000 price range.
An analysis is underway by the Borough’s Public Works and Engineer to develop a plan to remidiate a landslide behind Sharon Drive.
Council is working on language to include in a future ordinance to address hunting of wildlife in the Borough.
COUNCIL BUSINESS MEETING HIGHLIGHTS FROM July 17, 2018
Council has approved and is in the process of repairing a leak in the baby pool. The pool should be repaired and ready for use as soon as possible. It is expected to be repaired by Monday, July 23rd.
Rehabilitation of the Sewer System at the Soccer Field in the main park has been approved.
The Public Safety Committee will begin discussing control of the deer population at the next committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 2, 2018 .
